The patch is installed over the prepared repair area and extends beyond the visible defect to create a continuous waterproof seal.

Bitumen emulsion is applied to the pavement and, where required, to the back of the patch. Once the emulsion becomes tacky, the patch is positioned and compacted using a rubber-tyred vehicle or suitable compaction equipment.

The edges are sealed and blinded with fine aggregate or sand before the repaired area is reopened to traffic.
